8. Information processed outside New Zealand

RR Fisher uses service providers that may store or process personal information outside New Zealand.
In particular, our Shopify data storage hosting location is currently the United States. Other technology, marketing, payment and service providers we use may also process personal information outside New Zealand.
Where the Privacy Act's rules governing overseas disclosures apply, we will take reasonable steps to comply with Information Privacy Principle 12 (IPP 12) of the Privacy Act 2020.
IPP 12 regulates the disclosure of personal information to organisations outside New Zealand and is intended to ensure that appropriate privacy safeguards continue to apply when relevant information is disclosed overseas.
Depending on the circumstances, this can include satisfying ourselves that the recipient is subject to the New Zealand Privacy Act, is subject to comparable privacy protections, or is otherwise required to provide comparable safeguards. Where permitted by law, an overseas disclosure may also occur with an individual's express authorisation after the individual has been informed that the overseas recipient may not be required to provide comparable safeguards.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information in our possession or control against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure or other misuse.
We also use service providers, including Shopify, to assist in providing and securing our online services.
However, no internet transmission or electronic storage system is completely secure. You should therefore take appropriate care when sending sensitive information electronically and keep any account login details confidential.
If a privacy breach occurs that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm, we will notify the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

10. Retention of personal information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or where retention is required or permitted by law.
For example, we may need to retain information relating to transactions, accounts or business records to meet our legal, tax, accounting, warranty or dispute-resolution obligations.
When personal information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to securely delete it, destroy it or anonymise it as appropriate.

11. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
  • request access to personal information that we hold about you; and
  • request correction of personal information that you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or misleading.
We will respond to requests for access to personal information within the timeframes required by the Privacy Act 2020. In general, a decision on an access request must be made as soon as reasonably practicable and no later than 20 working days after the request is received, subject to any extension or other provisions permitted by law.
If we do not make a correction you request, you may ask us to attach a statement of correction to the information.
To make an access or correction request, contact us using the details at the end of this Privacy Policy. We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing personal information.

Marketing preferences

You may unsubscribe from RR Fisher marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary transactional or service communications, such as information about an order you have placed.

12. Children's privacy

Our online store is intended for a general commercial audience and is not specifically directed at children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where it is not reasonably necessary for our business purposes. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information in circumstances where it should not have been collected, please contact us.
We take particular care when collecting and handling personal information relating to children and young people.

Our website may contain links to websites, social-media services or other online platforms operated by third parties.
Those websites and services have their own privacy practices and policies. RR Fisher is not responsible for the privacy practices, security or content of third-party websites that we do not control.
